Commissioning The Radiology X-ray Machine Donated to Lagos General Hospital, Odan

Lagos General Hospital, Odan, Lagos Island, has recorded a major boost in its diagnostic capacity with the commissioning of a Radiology X-ray Machine facilitated by Senator Wasiu Sanni Eshilokun, in collaboration with the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA).

The commissioning ceremony attracted key stakeholders in the health and public service sectors, reflecting the importance of strategic partnerships in strengthening public healthcare delivery. Senator Eshilokun, who facilitated the intervention, described the project as a “gift of life” aimed at improving access to quality and timely medical diagnosis for residents of Lagos Island and its environs.

The Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) was present at the event, representing the agency whose collaboration made the donation possible. The Lagos State Health family was also in attendance, led by the Honourable Commissioner for Health, Professor Akin Abayomi, alongside senior officials from the Ministry of Health and the management of Lagos General Hospital, Odan.

Speaking at the commissioning, Senator Wasiu Sanni Eshilokun expressed his delight at the successful installation of the equipment, noting that modern diagnostic tools are critical to effective healthcare delivery. He emphasized that the X-ray machine would enhance early detection of medical conditions, reduce unnecessary referrals, and improve overall patient care at the facility.

 Professor Abayomi commended Senator Eshilokun and the Nigerian Ports Authority for their commitment to strengthening healthcare infrastructure in Lagos State. He reiterated the state government’s resolve to continue upgrading secondary health facilities to meet international standards and cater to the growing health needs of residents.

Senator Eshilokun further assured stakeholders of his commitment to sustained infrastructural interventions at Lagos General Hospital, Odan, describing it as the premier secondary health facility on Lagos Island. He pledged continued collaboration with relevant agencies and partners to support the Lagos State Government’s healthcare development agenda.

The commissioning of the Radiology X-ray Machine represents another milestone in efforts to improve healthcare delivery in Lagos State through purposeful leadership, effective partnerships, and targeted investments in critical health infrastructure.
